	UK History Our name is an acronym of Grasso Refrigeration Engineering Company having been established in 1969 to promote Grasso industrial refrigeration products. The subsequent formation of Grasso Products UK as a separate trading company within the GEA refocused our operation on the design, contracting and service of industrial and commercial refrigeration systems in the UK.
Until 1997 Grenco Refrigeration was predominantly involved in the UK food and beverage industries. In this year GEA acquired FES International, which originated from Carrier UK, and specialized in custom built design, construction and commissioning of skid mounted units primarily for petrochemical, oil, gas and chemical markets. In 2002 GEA acquired Morris and Young Ltd. Their considerable expertise and experience together with the geographical spread of engineering support complemented that of Grenco Refrigeration with the unified operation offering complete and comprehensive UK cover for contracting and service alike. During this year Refrigeration Control Systems (RCS) was acquired providing in-house software capability and personnel, subsequently incorporated into Grenco Refrigeration. Our operation in Ireland, GEA Refrigeration Ireland, was also established in this year, being renamed as Grenco Refrigeration (Ireland) Ltd on 01.01.07 to provide a consistent identity across UK and Ireland operations. Grenco Refrigeration Today Currently Grenco Refrigeration employs approximately 150 people in 9 locations throughout the UK and Ireland, and our annual turnover is in the region of £25 million.
Contracting The scope of our contracting teams encompasses food, beverage, pharmaceutical and leisure sectors. Projects are handled from concept, through detailed planning, procurement, installation and commissioning by our teams based at our Kings Hill, Nottingham and Cavan offices. Petrochemical and oil/gas contracting is dealt with by Technofrigo UK who are based at our Head Office in Kings Hill but are aligned with Technofrigo in Italy, the GEA Centre of Excellence for these activities.
Service National maintenance and service cover is supplied by approximately 75 service engineers dispersed throughout the UK. Our centralized service desk operating in conjunction with our 9 regional offices enables immediate, controlled and co-ordinated response at all times for both national and individual accounts.
Our regional operations are based at Kings Hill (SE), Exeter (SW), Haverhill (East Anglia), Nottingham (Midlands), Leeds (North), Hull (NE – Hull), Warrington (NW), Glasgow (Scotland), and Cavan (Ireland) and each has localized management to ensure continuity of communication with our customers. The service department also incorporates supply of genuine manufacturer’s spare parts, refrigerant and any refrigeration component.
